For over 30 years the Grünewald Guild has served as a creative and innovative example to the world of the transformative power of art and the sacred within the context of community. We are an ecumenical Christian community that embraces people of all journeys and traditions, serving as a sanctuary for their exploration of art, faith and the mystery of creation.
St. Dunstan's Episcopal Church in Shoreline, WA, invites artists of all mediums and anyone who feels inspired to submit designs for a stained glass window entitled, “The Light of God”. This is a high, west facing sanctuary window of 40 square feet. Steering Committee representatives said, "We seek a meditative design to inspire and excite the imagination, with fresh, contemporary colors which convey light both into and from the church. The window will respect and include the outside environment, and be an expression of our presence in the community.”
The cathedral-style sanctuary window is 63” wide, with a height of 82” at the edges 94” at the peak. Once a design has been chosen, the window’s assembly will be completed by the parishioners of St. Dunstan's, under the direction and guidance of local artist Joe Hester.
St. Dunstan's church has a tradition of commitment to artistic expression, embracing a variety of artistic endeavors and styles.
A meeting will be held at St. Dunstan's Church February 5th, from 3-5 PM for artists to tour the building and discuss the materials and meaning of the project with the facilitator and artist in residence, Joe Hester of the Grunewald Guild.
