"This is June, the month of grass and leaves... already the aspens are trembling again, and a new summer is offered me." - Henry David Thoreau (June 6, 1857)
It's hard to believe that another summer season is about to begin. Supplies are arriving, studios are being organized, guest and faculty arrivals are being organized, and volunteers are preparing to...well, volunteer! We look forward to seeing you all soon, in whatever capacity you may be arriving and participating with us here this summer.
If you have been debating whether or not to attend one of our classes this summer, now is the time to sign up. Some weeks and classes have very little room left in them! Visit our website for a full lineup of summer classes.
If you are looking for a place in which to hold a church or organizational retreat, we would love to be the venue for your next gathering. Fall and Winter here at the Guild each offer different settings and experiences. We would love to get your next retreat down on the calendar...but spots are limited, so now is a great time to contact us about securing your spot!
We are already scheduling events for the fall of 2012, and here are a few of the workshops and retreats we will be offering:
"The Need to Pay Attention" with Luci Shaw
A Time to Work: Studio Retreat for Artists
The three songs picked by the Yellow Room Gang to be the finalists for this summer's songwriting competition are (in no particular order):
"Stain Glass Joe" by Ed Sinclair
"Man in the Moon" by Chloe Caemmerer
"Lost" by Jennifer Kelly
We look forward to each of you performing your songs on July 27th at the student concert for the judges...and good luck to the winner, who will be the opening act for this summer's "Music in the Meadow" concert!
Guild summer faculty members Glenn Doering and Larkin Van Horn recently completed a labor of love in order to benefit the Guild. This amazing necklace (pictured below) is beautifully detailed and took many hours to create, being mailed back and forth across the country to complete it. They would like to offer it to the public for a donation of $300 to benefit Guild programs. If you are interested, please contact us in the office.
