Guild Special Update

Homecoming
By Adele Little Caemmerer

You will come to a great city that has expected your return for years - W.H. Auden, For The Time Being

Around 3 am on February 16, Richard breathed his last breath, peacefully, without fanfare, surrounded by family members. He spent his last hours more relaxed than we had seen him in days. We are writing this by his bedside, surrounded by candles, Berlioz's, L'Enfance Du Christ playing as it has been often, folks in and out of the room with morning coffee, last kisses and pats, laughter and tears, recollecting favorite lines of poetry and prose that speak to this moment. It is a holy time.

Last night we read to him from this journal, all of us gathered around. Thank you so much for your presence with us, your stories, your kind words of comfort- a precious gift to him and us as we make this journey together.

We want you to know that will be holding a memorial service for Richard at Grace Lutheran Church in Wenatchee at 1:00 pm on Saturday, February 27, with a reception following. The church is located at 1408 Washington Street.

In terms of transport, Wenatchee has air, train, and bus services, all with connections from Seattle.

We hope you can join us as we remember, share stories and images, and honor his vision of creativity in the heart of community.

Memorial gifts can be donated to the Guild.

Again, we are so grateful for your presence in our lives and will trust you are near whether you can join us or not.
