Silk painting has become a wonderful way to express my love of color and design, and a fun and easy medium to teach others. I work often with churches because I love the large spaces to be filled there and to forward my subversive mission to integrate sacred creation back into our human-made sacred spaces. I also enjoy working with congregations to help them create their own silk pieces. I teach people how to design a project together from a text or a theme, and facilitate their execution of the project. Usually I start by teaching basic silk painting classes, and my goal is to give them enough information, experience and confidence to continue using silk as a medium to augment their worship space without me. I work in oils, acrylics, watercolor, stained glass, and silk dye on silk. More important to me than the medium is the message. Lifting up the everyday miracle of the natural world and understanding its wisdom for our lives is what I strive for.
