Writing & Telling Your Cultural Story

Jun 26th - Jul 2nd, 2017
Full Package: $860
Class only: $295

In this class, we will explore, share, and celebrate our unique cultural stories: the particular blend of influences that have shaped us into the people we are today.

Through guided writing exercises, meditation, and class discussion, we will explore the broad theme of “culture” and how our unique experiences have influenced our understanding of ourselves, our faith journeys, and our sense of belonging.

All experience levels welcome. Ages 16+

What will class time be like? Will I need to work outside of class?

Each day will guide us through instructor presentations, reflective writing prompts, and group discussion as we explore different facets of our cultural stories and how they influence our lives today.

There is no requirement for participants to work outside of class time; however, writing can be time-consuming and some participants may wish to continue working in the afternoons or evenings.

What can I expect to create?

The primary focus of this class is on personal exploration and introspection, and our written responses may take many forms, including poetry, memoirs, or short stories.

What should I bring to class?

All necessary materials will be provided. Participants may wish to bring a favorite journal if they have one, or a laptop if they prefer to compose in digital form. Participants are also welcome to bring cultural and personal artifacts (family photos for example)
