Adele Caemmerer
President
After coming to the Guild as a staffer in 1987, Adele met and married Guild founders, Richard and Liz Caemmerer’s son, Mike. Adele and Mike ventured overseas for teaching, and along with their two daughters, travelled between Asia and America, spending many summers in Plain with the Guild community. Along the way Adele trained and worked as a spiritual director and continued this work overseas as one of the facilitators of mindfulness group of teachers at her school in India. She is now living in Plain, pursuing her art, freelance teaching, and all things personal growth. She is active in the local arts scene through exhibitions and arts advocacy. Adele incorporates her passion for art and spiritual practice in her visual explorations of the rhythms of daily life.

Becky Greear
Vice President
For 33 years Becky has provided direct service and program leadership as a Clinical Social Worker in a variety of healthcare and social service settings. She is passionate about trauma healing, addiction recovery, and social justice. Becky believes that the world is in great need of healthy, affirming communities that nurture connection. She loves the process of creating art and have found it to be the deepest place of contemplation and discernment that I know.
Becky began taking classes and volunteering at the Guild about 10 years ago. The “Guild Zone” has become a place of sacred play, friendship, restoration, discovery, and homecoming for her over and over — whether at the campus or in cyber studio/on-line classes. She is honored and excited to support the continued life and development of the Guild by serving on the board.

Rick Szeliski
Secretary
Originally from Montreal, Canada, Rick Szeliski moved to Seattle in 1995 and has spent the last (almost) forty years in computer science research and teaching, working for large technology companies in the area. He began taking summer art classes at the Grünewald Guild in 2013, starting with stained glass mosaic and then moving on to ceramics, leaded and foiled stained glass, and a variety of other media. These classes have provided a treasured respite from technical work and a wonderful source of inspiration.
Rick joined the Grünewald Guild Board in 2021 and currently serves as the Board Secretary.

Cheryl Branz
Treasurer
Cheryl is a 2nd generation co-owner of Jim Custer Enterprises, Inc. – a company based in Spokane, Washington, that specializes in consumer show promotions with a roster of seven annual events held throughout Eastern Washington.
She is a graduate of the University of Northern Colorado (Go Bears!) with a major in Journalism (emphasis on Radio/TV) and a minor in Vocal Music Performance. Within two years of graduating Cheryl began working full-time with her parents in their business. When they retired, Cheryl and her husband bought the business. They work together 24/7 and that holds both blessings and challenges!
When she’s not working, you’ll find her singing. Anywhere, anytime. That passion led her to the Grünewald Guild over 20 years ago for a week-long summer class in Songwriting. Cheryl was a new guitar player at the time and was just stepping into the singer/songwriter waters – it’s a good thing that the Guild is by a river!
Cheryl has served on the board (with a break at the six-year mark) for 11 years and is continually honored and humbled to be part of the Guild in this capacity and to witness firsthand the many blessings it continues to bring forth.

Ron Cole
Board Member
Raised in central Kentucky, Ron first experienced the Grunewald Guild community as an Intern for the Summer Program of 2013. The vibrancy of the Guild community would draw him to stay on as an Artist-In-Residence. He later moved to the Plain Valley to work for three years on staff as the Facilities and Grounds Supervisor and teach on the Summer Faculty. Ron currently still resides in the Plain Valley, where he lives as a stay-at-home parent in a tiny home with his spouse and young daughter.

She works as a librarian at Whitworth University, where she also co-leads study abroad trips to Rome and Oxford. In her spare time, Sophia enjoys collaging and zine-making, curling up with her cat and scrolling TikTok, and teaching zine workshops at Spark Central. Her creative practices are informed by her interest in the aesthetics of the memento mori and her Catholic faith.
