Come and study with Guild Master Ruth Sinclair. Past students describe Ruthie as “fantastic!” and “knowledgable beyond expectation.”
This is a unique opportunity to learn from the artist who created and pioneered the clay-paper medium and process! Students will design and create large three-dimensional sculptures by combining paper pulp and dry clay over an armature of polystyrene. Sculptures will be finished with acrylic paints. Students may choose their own subject. All experience levels welcome. Ages 14+
Note: Teachers of any grade level can easily use this non-toxic sculpture technique for classroom projects.
What will class time be like? Will I need to work outside of class?
Students will be led through each step with demonstrations. Further possibilities of this unique medium will be shown in a presentation of the instructor’s own works. There will be independent work time with one-on-one feedback from the instructor. Most students should expect to work outside of class in order to complete their projects.
Each student will design and create one large clay-paper sculpture.
What should I bring to class?
All necessary materials will be provided. Students may bring photographs for reference or inspiration. Please wear old clothes.
