Join Linda in this printmaking class in which you will use plants, fruits, vegetables, feathers, and other found objects to create unique imagery utilizing water-based ink and paint. During the class, there will be an explanation of materials, demonstration of process, discussion of color/composition, and ample time to make prints.
All experience levels welcome, including beginners. Ages 16+
What will class time be like? Will I need to work outside of class?
The majority of class time will be devoted to making. Students may work at their own pace. Experimentation and a thorough investigation of this practice will be encouraged. Each class will begin with a brief discussion and demonstration. We will cover such topics as subject choice, material options, method options, use of color, use of composition, and (optional) advanced practices including layering and ink making. Additionally, example imagery will be shown and discussed. Some found objects, such as leaves, will be provided for printing subject matter and students may explore the nearby trails and Guild grounds for additional objects.
All projects can be completed within the allotted class time.
At a minimum, 6-8 finished prints suitable for framing.
What should I bring to class?
All printmaking supplies will be provided.
Students should also bring an apron, old clothes, and an old hand towel/rag. The process is likely to get ink/paint on your hands, so students may choose to bring rubber/Nitrile disposable gloves.
