Learn to wheel-throw with beautiful marbled clay with Kira Tippenhauer, whom previous students describe as “knowledgeable, generous, flexible and encouraging.”
Students will learn how to safely and comfortably use mason stains to create their own uniquely patterned clay. In addition, the week will be spent exploring the art of throwing vessels on the pottery wheel. Make your own bowl! A mug that’s just the right size! Try a vase with a stunning marbled surface!
All experience levels welcome, including beginners. Ages 8-12 when accompanied by an adult; solo participants ages 12+
Class time will consist of instructor demos, independent work time with one-on-one feedback as needed, and opportunities for sharing among participants. Adults and teens will have the opportunity to design and create their own colored clay with appropriate safety gear, while pre-colored clay will be available for younger children to use.
Participants wishing to create complex or ambitious projects should expect to spend additional time working outside of class.
Class participants will have the opportunity to create 3-5 (maybe more!) wheel-thrown vessels.
