Come explore the art of marbling clay with Kira Tippenhauer, whom previous students describe as “knowledgeable, generous, flexible and encouraging.”
This unique pottery experience will not only include instructions on how to use mason stains to create vibrant colored clay, but will also give you access to the technique behind marbling with clay! Join us on this wonderful journey and walk away with beautifully finished marbled ceramic pieces, handmade by you!
All experience levels welcome, including beginners. Ages 8-12 when accompanied by an adult; solo participants ages 12+
Class time will consist of instructor demos, independent work time with one-on-one feedback as needed, and opportunities for sharing among participants. Adults and teens will have the opportunity to design and create their own colored clays with appropriate safety gear, while pre-colored clay will be available for younger children to use.
Participants wishing to create complex or ambitious projects should expect to spend additional time working outside of class.
Most participants will create several slab-built pieces such as vessels, plates, dishes, bowls, etc. in unique marbled color combinations.
