It is with grateful hearts that we add Laura Norton to the online summer lineup with a new pointed brush calligraphy offering. You’ll love Laura’s warmth and openness, her passion for calligraphy, and her gentle humor.
Laura writes, “Ah, the free-flowing feel of the pointed brush provides so many opportunities for expressiveness! From playful to formal, you will become acquainted with several ‘feels’ with a variety of pointed-brush alphabets and then, add flowing flourishes that dance around the words and letters in ways that express everything from exuberant excitement to quiet contemplation. The pointed brush is a tool for smoothly creating drawings and flourishing in addition to letters and words, and we will engage in meditative exercises to free your hand, relax your mind, and let the beauty flow from your fingers. You will also complete a simple 8-page folded book incorporating words, poems/quotations, and images. Let the creativity begin!”
This class will be offered Monday-Friday from 9:45am-12:45pm (Pacific Time) via Zoom for live discussion and demonstration. Students may be instructed to work on their own for periods of time and then return to the group for discussion. A couple 10-minute breaks will be given.
