We are so grateful to be welcoming back Guild Faculty Bonnie Klatt. Bonnie was not on the original itinerary of 2020 classes, so we are especially appreciative for her willingness to step in during this adaptation of our summer program.
“The Earth laughs in flowers.” ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson
Bonnie writes, “What is it that attracts us to flowers? Is it their undeniable beauty? Their vibrant colors? Their fragrant scent? Or is there something deeper within us that responds to what they offer us?
Looking through the lens of the flower we will explore how flowers are a pure expression of Divine Love, reflecting the divine qualities of the Creator – the First Artist. Please join me as we enter deeply into mystery of flowers and discover what they can teach us about our relationship to the Creator, ourselves, and humanity.
What can we learn from them that will help us in these challenging times?”
We will meet on the instructor’s private Zoom account from 10:00 AM PDT to 1:00 PM PDT each day. The link for this will be provided every day.
Each session will include a meditative opening, followed by the presentation and discussion of the theme for that day. Sharing of the previous day’s work will be included as well as addressing any questions.
Handouts and supporting materials will be provided as necessary, either via email or retrieving from the instructor’s Drop Box account. (Instructions for this will be provided by the instructor.)
When is class time?
10:00am – 1:00pm (Pacific Time), Monday, July 6-Friday, July 10, via Zoom
Each day’s session will be recorded for students to view again, in case a student misses a class or someone just wishes to review the materials again. Though the class is technically scheduled from 10:00 AM PDT – 1:00 PM PDT, the flow of each day’s activities and conversation will determine whether or not we will actually be on Zoom that entire time. We will discuss this as a class throughout the week. The instructor will be available during that time, and also outside of class time for one-on-one discussion.
Projects and exercises will be assigned, which will involve more of an individual’s reflective process with their choice of creative expression. Students are invited to express themselves in whatever creative way they feel Spirit moving them – journaling, poetry, prayer, story, sketching, painting/coloring, etc. – as they record their journey with flowers through the week.
What do I need for class?
- A journal or some favorite form of writing/drawing paper.
- Your favorite writing instruments (pen, pencil, etc).
- If you wish to add color to your work, then choose whatever medium is your favorite (colored pencil, markers, water color, etc.) and you are comfortable using.
- Some tape or glue might be helpful if you wish to include floral treasures from the garden in your journals.
