Explore Raku with Scottie Sinclair, an instructor whom past students describe as “inspiring and supportive” and “an excellent teacher” who is “easy to understand and follow.”
Students will find a relaxed atmosphere where the only limitation will be our imaginations! We will hand-build, wheel-throw, and sculpt based on each person’s desire. On the last evening, we will fire our finished pieces outdoors in the darkness with a glowing kiln & pottery providing the magic.
All experience levels welcome, including beginners. Ages 12+
Class is light and will be fun. Everyone will be at different skill levels and quite possibly able to learn from each other.
Participants in this class MUST spend significant time outside of class in order to complete their projects.
What can I expect to create?
Participants can expect to make a minimum of three finished pieces (and possibly more,) using hand-building, wheel throwing, and sculptural techniques.
Please note that raku-fired ceramics are not considered food-safe. Participants in this class will have the option of creating sculptural and decorative pieces, as well as functional pieces for non-food use (planters, pencil holders, candle or incense burners, etc.)
What should I bring to class?
All ceramic supplies will be provided. Please wear clothes you are not worried about getting dirty. Come with ideas of what you would like to build.
