Our hearts are bursting as we introduce new faculty member Venice Williams! Years ago, Guild Director Vonda Drees began her own journey into contemplative spirituality with a group facilitated by Venice. It is with great anticipation that we welcome Venice’s wisdom, especially related to the gifts of the Guild’s garden.
An herb is a plant or plant part used for its scent, flavor, or therapeutic properties. Herbal medicines are one type of dietary supplement. Culinary herbs are edible parts of plants that are traditionally added to foods for their natural flavoring. Aromatic herbs have been used in the home as potpourris for many centuries, to scent a room gently or deodorize unpleasant smells. Medicinal herbs have long been thought to have curative powers. This class will be a hands-on exploration of all three.
All experience levels welcome, Ages 8-12 (with adult) and Ages 12+
Each class will be a hands-on, sensory experience of herbs, inviting participants into the magical world of herbs. Sessions will be a slow-paced, enjoyable journey. The class will focus on the multiple layers of creating with herbs. We will work a lot with our hands, as we gain a deeper understanding of the treasures herbs can be in our lives. We will also spend educational time, learning the many beneficial properties of the herbs.
All projects can be completed within the allotted class time.
What can I expect to create?
Our projects will vary, depending upon what is “in season” and growing on site!
Participants will create AT LEAST two projects during each class session.
There will also be a written, herbal-spiritual exploration time during each class.
What should I bring to class?
All necessary materials will be provided.
