We are excited to welcome Rafael Suarez as new faculty this summer! Raffi currently serves as the technical arts coordinator for Living Word Lutheran Church in Katy, Texas, where he produces weekly videos, as well as manages all media-related tasks for the church.
This will be an introductory class in producing videos, an opportunity to learn the fundamentals in the exciting world of video production, movies, television, and broadcast.
All experience levels welcome. Ages 12+ (Ages 8-12 also welcome when accompanied by adult)
What will class time be like? Will I need to work outside of class?
Early in the week, there will be a lecture-style introduction to all things video production. It’s important that all of us, beginners to novice producers to professionals, begin with the basics of photography and videography. After that, we will dive into some hands-on shooting and editing. The goal will be to complete a three- to five-minute video that encompasses all of the aspects that will be covered in class.
There is no requirement for participants to work outside of class time; however, videography can be time-consuming and some participants may wish to continue working in the afternoons or evenings.
While we will focus on one in-class project created together, participants are also encouraged to create their own three- to five-minute video.
What should I bring to class?
If available, participants are encouraged to bring their own DSLR camera, tripod, and laptop. Having your own equipment, though, will not be required or necessary to attend the class and be part of the in-class video project.
