All are welcome to explore the magic of weaving! In this open-ended class, we will be meeting each participant “where you are” and exploring where you want to go with your weaving.
For beginners, this may include learning to select yarns, wind warps, and dress your loom. (No idea what that means? No problem! Liz & Suzanne are masterful at getting people started on their very first weaving.) For experienced weavers, this class is your opportunity to explore unfamiliar techniques, take on complex patterns, or experiment with different yarns.
All experience levels welcome, including beginners. Ages 14+
Here is a brief video from Liz and Suzanne’s 2015 class on Shadoweave.
What will class time be like? Will I need to work outside of class?
We will begin by showing samples of various weaving designs, followed by sharing yarn options. We will discuss color theory, and we will work with each student to design a project that is appropriate to their interests, personal aesthetic, and skill level. Most students should anticipate working outside of class time.
Each student will design and weave one project, such as a scarf, table runner, stole, or wall hanging.
What should I bring to class?
All necessary materials and equipment will be provided; however, experienced weavers may wish to bring yarns from their own collection, or photos of weavings you’d like to attempt. Please bring a notebook, and a short inspirational reading or poem to help us get started.
