Although trained and educated in the sciences with a BS and MS in Biology, jewelry designer Glenn Doering always had a creative side. This was recognized by his employer, a scientific equipment direct marketing firm, when the owners asked him to manage their creative staff in the catalog production department after having spent 20 years in various front-line and management positions in the sales, customer service and purchasing departments. And thus began his move to more creative work. After 25 years in the scientific equipment industry, he moved to the giftware industry and was introduced to the world of fine imported beads and gemstones. In working with these beautiful, individually crafted, tiny works of art, his life-long love of jewelry was nurtured. He began to realize that he no longer wanted to design jewelry just as an occasional hobby. So in February 2004 the Pärla Arte line of unique affordable hand-crafted jewelry was born. Glenn Doering says, "In creating my designs I combine semi-precious gemstones, natural materials, imported cut crystals, Murano and dichroic glass, cloisonné and freshwater pearls with uncommon 14K gold-filled and sterling silver beads and findings. Each of my creations is a one-of-a-kind design and made by hand, being conceived with a sense of timelessness, which will make it unique and eye-catching for decades instead of just going along with a current fad. In so doing, my jewelry has become popular with women of all ages." In October 2004, the www.parlaarte.com web site was launched as another display and purchasing option for his art. Pärla Arte jewelry is also regularly shown at galleries, art fairs, trunk shows, jewelry stores and boutiques, in the Chicago area as well as various locations around the country.
