From a very early age, art (specifically writing) has played a very influential role in Tamisha Tyler's life, so it would come to no surprise that art would also play an important role in her faith. As a writer, she has written poetry, short stories as well as some theatrical productions. As a leader she has served in ministry since 2001 under various roles including Creative Arts Director and Administrator. As an academic and theologian, she aspires to connect the arts and Christianity in a way that inspires artists to engage their faith and awakens the church to acknowledge the beauty and incredible revelation that is found in art. She holds a B.A in Black Studies from CSULB, an MDiv in Worship, Theology and the Arts from Fuller Theological Seminary and is pursuing a PhD at Fuller in Theology and Culture, focusing on the work of Octavia Butler. With a desire to connect creativity and arts to the education, training and development of future leaders, Tamisha Tyler hopes to continue to gain training and opportunities, both academically and experientially, as she continues on her own journey as a leader, artist and educator in the 21st century.
