Our Summer Program has been adapted to be experienced online in 2020. If you’d like to know more about this decision, please see our Announcement on the Summer Program.
The Grünewald Guild has practiced art among the Ponderosas in the Plain Valley of Washington State since 1980. With each collective, creative connection, Soul emerges, love is resurrected, and new ways of living, being and moving through this world are experienced.
In this, the Guild’s 40th year, while we remember the Guild’s namesake, Matthias Grünewald, whose work 500 years ago served as a medium of transformation in both personal healing and social reconciliation, we also celebrate this special place in the “green woods” that has been home to thousands of artists.
There’s a Spirit present in this place. That Creative Spirit is what we’ll need to call upon this summer to connect us in a different way as we listen, honor and respond through hard questions that will not let us go, with laughter and tears and conversation across an internet serving to hold us, and yes, even and especially, in the quiet and restful moments of Guild space in our own homes. As we act in hope and courage in this different way of being the Guild this summer, love will show up in visible and audible revelations of story, painting, song… in our art! Together may we lean into what is emerging with Forest Vision.
We hope you’ll join in this nurturing embrace of art, faith and community from wherever you are.

All gatherings will occur in Zoom, unless otherwise noted. You will receive links and passwords to these events.
Online classes include familiar favorites as well as several new offerings. Most classes have been capped at 11 students.
In addition to the community experience within your class and within our communal zoom gatherings, we will also host an opt-in private Facebook group. There students will be encouraged to share their art and interact with one another. Consider it a similar experience to visiting studios while on campus. We may even include some snippets of current campus life, e. g. how the garden is doing, how the River Cabin renovations are coming along, how the Swimming Hole looks, maybe there’s something specific you’d like to see again and we’d be happy to honor your request.
If you’d like to stay on campus during your online class or simply for a time of respite and renewal, check out our private retreats with physical distancing.
If you’re local and would like to rent a private studio, check out our private studio rental.
